Gujarat govt launches e-FIR | facility for vehicle, mobile phone thefts

Ahmedabad, Jun 8 (PTI) The Gujarat government on Wednesday blazoned that people can now register an “e-FIR ” using the state home department’s website or mobile application to report theft of their vehicles or mobile phones. 



People can now register ane-FIR from their homes using the state home department’s website or citizen portal “gujhome.gujarat.gov.in ” or the “ Citizen First Gujarat Police ” mobile app, rather than going to a police station, according to an functionary. 
 
Instead of visiting a police station, people can now register ane-FIR from their home through the citizen portal “gujhome.gujarat.gov.in ” or through “ Citizen First Gujarat Police ” mobile app, an functionary said. 

The installation is only available for cases, in which the indicted are unidentified and there was no use of force, he said. 




After uploading needed details on the website or the app, suers will be transferred a evidence through SMS and dispatch, following which the operation will be encouraged to the concerned police station, the functionary said. 
 
A senior functionary of a police station will be needed to assign the primary disquisition to his inferior officer within 24 hours of entering the complaint, he said, adding that the plaintiff will be advised through SMS once the inquiry is assigned. 



The disquisition officer will have to meet the plaintiff and corroborate the data mentioned in thee-FIR within 48 hours and shoot his report to the police station in- charge, he said.

The station in- charge will file an FIR if the details mentioned in thee-FIR are set up to be genuine by the disquisitionofficer.However, the state government will take action against officers responsible for it, the functionary said, If needed action isn't taken on an aaplication within five days.
