List of 291 candidates announced.


Mamata Banerjee has announced the list of 291 candidates for the Assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee has given a chance to 100 new faces while some well-known faces have cut their tickets. Of the 291 candidates, 50 are women and 42 are Muslims. The TMC is not contesting the 3 seats in Darjeeling as these seats are reserved for the party's allies.



Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary will contest from Shivpur in Howrah.

Amit Mitra, who has been the finance minister in the Mamata government, will not contest this time. The current 28 MLAs have not been given tickets. Mamata thanked Tejaswi Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren and Shiv Sena for supporting the TMC. Mamata Banerjee has also announced that she will not give tickets to candidates above the age of 80.



Earlier, Mamata Banerjee wanted to contest from Bhawanipur but now Sovanddev Chatterjee has been given a ticket from Bhawanipur. Filmstar Sayantikat from Bankura, Kanchan Malik from Uttarpada and Manoj Tiwari from Shivpur have been given tickets. Singer Aditi Munshi has been given a ticket from Rajarhat and Chandrima Bhattacharya from Uttar Damdam.
