Valentine's Week is celebrated all over the world. During this time many people express their love. Kiss Day is one of the most romantic days of Valentine's Week. On this day loving couples spend some romantic and special moments with each other, but all have different ways.

1. Kiss happens like this in Europe


There are many kissing traditions in Europe. For example, in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, people kiss on the cheek 3 times when they meet (first right, then left, then right). So in Italy and France only 2 kisses are given on the cheek. In Belgium kissing is done only once on the cheek. Kissing is done in Poland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Russia etc. These kisses are only given to relatives, friends or acquaintances.

Polynesians and Malaysians touch each other's noses instead of kissing on the lips. This is a way to show their love and respect.

In North America and Canada, kissing is said when saying goodbye and meeting. Kissing on the lips is considered very common here.





7. Arctic Eskimo Kisses are something different



People living in the Arctic areas kiss Eskimos. Here kissing is not done on the lips to show love and respect, instead the nose and lips are pressed against the cheeks and deep breaths are taken. Something similar is done by the MāŠ°ીori people of Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Polynesian Islands, New Zealand.
