GSHSEB Declared Revised Curriculum For Std 9 To 12 Students

GSHSEB announces revised syllabus for standard 9 to 12 students, Gujarat Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GSHSEB) has decided to reduce the syllabus from 9th to 12th class for the academic year 2020-21 in view of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic situation. In addition, GSEB 10th exams 2021 and GSEB 12th exams 2021 will be held on May 21 and Class 9 and 11 exams will be held in June next year. This decision was made keeping in view the course load on the students.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama informed, "The board has been instructed to start work on curriculum reduction. Suggestions from subject matter experts will be sought, followed by a decision on what is left and what to maintain. ”

The board is determined to maintain what is needed for the next class of students. The Chairman of the Board said, “A decision on the revised syllabus will be taken soon on the advice of the State Government. Given the intolerance of students dropping out of the curriculum, the rationalization of courses has to be done keeping in mind that these are the same students who are going to sit for the national entrance exam in the coming months. Therefore, our effort will be to ensure that the students do not lose anything important. ”

According to GSHSEB, the education department held various meetings on July 23, August 20 and September 11. Later, on September 29, a meeting was held in the presence of Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, following which it was decided to rationalize the curriculum.

According to sources, earlier, the students and parents made a representation, demanding that the syllabus be rationalised which eventually led to the discussion and the decision to reduce approximately 30% of the syllabus. This means that the exam papers will not have questions from this 30% portion. The decision was taken so that studies are less stressful for students and they can prepare well for board exams, said, officials.

The topics constituting the 30% portion to be reduced will be sent to district education officers who will inform schools about the same. Additionally, it will also be uploaded on the board’s official website.
