According to a report, Valentine is mentioned in a book called Oriya of Jacobus de Voragin. This day is celebrated in the name of Saint Valentine, a priest of Rome. Saint Valentine believed in increasing love in the world but a king in Rome did not like this and he was against love marriage. He thought love marriage was wrong.
Emperor Claudius felt that the Romans were not enlisting in the army because of their strong attachment to their wives and families. To solve this problem, Claudius banned marriage and engagement in Rome. Pastor Valentine felt the emperor's order was unfair to the people. He also got married to many officers and soldiers who opposed him. He was then hanged on 14 February.
