The job profile of the postal servant will include all the functions of sale and delivery of stamps and stationery, mail delivery and any other duties assigned by the Postmaster / Sub Postmaster including the IPPB function in the departmental post office fees / RMS. However, the work done for IPPB will not be included in the TRCA calculation, as it is being done on an incentive basis. 


He may also assist Postmasters / Sub Postmasters in streamlined management and marketing of departmental post ices fees, Professional Procurement or Postmaster or any other operation assigned by IPO / ASPO / SPO / SSPO / SRM / SSRM and other supervising officers. In Railway Mail Services (RMS), GDSA has to handle RMS related tasks such as opening / closing of bags, transporting bags from one place to another and other works allotted by RMS officers.

Educational Qualification for Dak Sevak Bharti:
(i) 10th standard Secondary School Examination Pass Certificate with Marks passed in Mathematics, Local Language and English (Pass studied as compulsory or optional subjects) by any Board of School Education recognized by Government of India / State Governments / Union Territories There will be compulsory educational qualification for all recognized categories of rural postal workers in India.

(ii) Compulsory knowledge of local language The candidate should study local language up to at least ten standard [as compulsory or optional subjects) as per the constitutional provision relating to the 8th study of the Constitution of India declared by the State Government.
